Job Description

Responsible for controlling equipment to adjust chemical changes and reactions during the production process of products for the industrial and consumer space.

Primary responsibilities include:

  • Determine product or ingredients for products.
  • Adjust the flow of gasses and chemicals through pipes.
  • Set timing devices such as gauges and thermostats.
  • Regulate temperate, pressure and time during reactions.
  • Open and shut valves.
  • Operate pumps to drain or receive materials
  • Start reactors, agitators, or blowers.
  • Automatically feed materials and chemicals.
  • Monitor gauges and flowmeters.
  • Mix and add chemicals according to formulas.
  • Record data
  • Take samples for analysis.
  • Inspect equipment malfunctions.
  • Test equipment.
  • Analyze sample for specific gravity
  • Clean and sterilize equipment.
  • Unload and set up materials.
  • Operate heaters, scrubbers, filters, or dryers.

The mission of the program is to provide technical instruction and skill development that will enable students to become gainfully employed in the welding field. Highly individualized instruction provides for both classroom instruction and practical work experience using hand tools, fabrication shop equipment and welding equipment. The major emphasis of the program is placed on safety, oxyacetylene cutting, plasma arc cutting, shielded metal arc welding, gas tungsten arc welding, gas metal arc welding and flux core arc welding of carbon steel, stainless steel and aluminum. Welding is a detail oriented technology. Close attention must be made in all areas of welding, cutting, metal preparation, and fabrication.

Class room and shop experiences focus on construction trades, manufacturing, and industrial welding. Students learn about safety, metallurgy, mathematics and print reading.
